I am loving learning all about my daughters chickens, my grand chickens.
Unfortunately my daughter went out this afternoon to find her chickens breathing with their mouth open and seemed to be panting. We are sure if they are overheated as this is the hottest day we have had so far, or if they got something from the grass while in their outdoor pen yesterday (for about 3 hours and we were with them). It seems strange that they all were doing this at the same time.
We have an an avian vet who will visit only Tuesday through Thursday so we are pretty anxious while waiting.
We put ice in their water to cook them if this is overheating. They are lying down more now but still have their mouths although maybe not as much and they are still eating.
Any thoughts?
