New button house

Well no. These quail that the thread is about can live for longer than the other popular ones (Japanese/Coturnix) which can exceed the lifespan of 2 and I’ve heard of some living up to 10! But that’s rare.
OH ok! That what I heard. Do y they eat special feed and do chicks have do get crushed up chicks crumbles?

I feed mine 30% gamebird/turkey starter. As adults they also get oyster shell. Because they’re so tiny, I put the feed/shell through a sieve to separate out pieces too big for them.

As treats, they get bird seed and — very occasionally— cut up cooked spaghetti noodles so the boys can gift them to their mates. I think with these I might try spaghetti squash too.

Ok thanks for the info in case I can convince my mom to let me get some!

Some info points (from a mom of a teen):
  • They do well indoors, but not outside in cold weather
  • They are small enough to live in a cage
  • A teen can take care of them
  • They don’t eat a lot
  • They don’t usually like to be held
  • They don’t smell like coturnix quail
  • They aren’t very noisy — but the boys do sing “hee-hee-hee”
  • They’re as cute as...... BUTTONS!!!!
Good luck. :) I personally think they’re a fun pet for a young person.
