New BYC's member in Arkansas

Hello to all! My name is Randy and my wife is Gina. I've built a large portable coop/yard for my wife. It's a veritable land-yacht! We're in the process of researching/deciding on a breed to call it home. We're looking at the Jersey Giant, Black Samatra, Black Copper Maran, or the Speckled Sussex. Whichever breed it is that we decide on, we will be interested in quality breed-conforming birds. We have no contacts in the poultry world at this point so any direction we can get from anyone familiar with these particular breeds and who might have them available would be very much appreciated!

We're glad to have you! Those are all nice breeds, you can't go wrong with any of them. If your goal is to breed and show, those are all breeds that are accepted by the APA so you're set there. There are lots of breeders on here, I'm sure you'll have no problem finding someone with the breed you decide to go with. You can check your local thread in the Where am I, Where are You section and see if you might be able to find them locally as well.

Hello and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us. There may well be threads on the breeds that you mention, and through those, you may be able to find members sufficiently close from whom you can purchase eggs/chicks/juvenile birds.
