Ok, first time for me.

Basics...

I have a 2x4 breeder with a large sweeter heater plate about 6” over pine shavings. Chicks don’t seem stressed, and currently sleeping anywhere from the middle of the plate to the edge.

They have been receiving the vita-pack electrolytes since day 1

I picked up 8 chicks on Monday from Meyer. My Black Copper Marans started sneezing on Wednesday. I did not notice any sort of discharge, eye puffiness, etc. I have had to clean poopy butt on her daily.

last night, I swear I felt her click a few times breathing, but then I didn’t so I thought I mabye was making it up. I did notice some yellow/green liquid poops last night from her, and I though it looked like she was breathing heavy.

she did not survive the night.

All of the other chicks seem fine. No sneeze, no more pasty butt, eating and drinking well. All growing their feathers, but my roo looks a bit on the smaller side (Australorp)

any suggestions on what to do to protect the others? Should I assume it was just a birth defect? Or should in start to treat the water with something...
