We just got a dozen baby chicks, of different kinds, about 2 weeks apart altogether, as well as 2 mallard ducklings 1 week old. the crate we had them in is too small , and the bigger chicks and 1 duck is agresive to the smaller ones, so we split them into 2 crates. Is this bad, and will they be able to get along once they are bigger and all together in the big coop? I am worried that we will have to get rid of a few birds already

Thanks for your help!

It shouldn't be. Just give the smaller ones time to get better and get their attitude towards the bigger ones and slow introduce they together in a place that is different to them both.

Goodluck!

When they are bigger I would introduce them to each other slowly. There will probably be a little sparring to establish pecking order. I would only get rid of one if it seemed overly aggressive towards the others.

OK THANKS!! I have been giving little bit of "playtime" with each one as a test for a few seconds at a time.
I have another question:

I dont even know what kind of chicks I got as the store I got them from listed themas "assorted" 2 of them are yellow with feathers turning white, bare legged, much bigger than the others. 4 are yellow and their feathers are coming white with black on them, feathers on their legs.
thanks a bunch!

the 2 ducks are still aggressive to the smallest chicks. im worried that they will have to be separated from the rest of the chicks. i am still hopeful they will get thru this as a whole happy family when we move them to they outside home
