I have an egg that hatched under a broody this morning. The chick is peeping up a storm but very lethargic and won't open its eyes. Hops back under mom when I put her back into the nest. First time broody Mom has also pecked at her a couple of times until the chick gets under her.

Should I pull the chick and put it in a brooder? Also does this chick looks normal? Appreciate any advice! Thank you!

Also is it normal for the mom to peck at the chick a bit? It doesn't look like she's pecking to kill but at one point she had the chicks foot in her mouth and wouldn't let go. But she stops pecking when the chick gets under her.

The naval looks like it may have been pecked a couple times by the hen. Can be treated with some Triple Antibiotic ointment(Non pain Relieving), this chicks energy can be boosted with some Nutridrench, or electrolyte water.
