I just recently bought my first chicks. The chicks are 3 1/2 weeks old. At 1 week old 2 of the chicks started to stretch their necks and open and close their beaks, but were still eating, drinking and acting otherwise normal. I went back to the store where I bought them and told them the symptoms and they advised me to administer VetRX to the water that it sounded like a respiratory issue. Both chicks stopped gasping a day later. Unfortunately at 2 weeks old one of the chicks died suddenly. Today the second chick also passed. I have not seen any evidence of worms in the chicks stool but I noticed tiny white grains of some kind in the second chicks mouth when I inspected him after he passed today. I have been trying to research but cannot come up with a definitive answer and am very worried about my remaining 6 chicks becoming ill. Please help. Does anyone know what these white things are?
