I have had this happen to several of my chicks, warm water with a cloth and gently rub on it to loosen it up and it should come off. But I'm glad to hear your way worked, I don't think I would risk putting my under the faucet, to risky in getting water in there nose or accidently in there mouth and causing them to drown. But I'm glad it worked for you, that's great news....
 
Now you know what to do if it happens again. No big deal. Just dampen it and it will come right off. I have seen if you don't get it off when the chicks start moving around and getting curious they peck at it and possible try to eat it maybe causing a much bigger issue as it might be tasty.
You did the right thing.
