New chick

I am concerned with my first chick. It is dragging its umbilical cord. Is that ok?

I would trim that up. It could get caught on something and pull the yolk out, or if someone else hatches they may peck at it.

It should dry up and fall off soon give it time. Don't try to pull it off

It fell off a few minutes ago. I hatched some guinea eggs last year and don't remember seeing anything like that. I am a little nervous because these eggs were supposed to hatch a week ago.

My temp averaged about 98-99 degrees. As of this morning I just have one chick. She is a black easter-egger. She is doing well. I have 2 more eggs that are due Friday. I am not sure about the other 10. I candled them and I believe they are vital. Wait and see, I guess.

What kind of incubator do you have? Is it still air?

Chick number 2 hatched last night. I have a Little Giant still air incubator.
