Hi everyone!
We are starting our chicken journey with the delivery of our first
chicks next week! We are expecting 5 Jersey Giants and have
been reading everything we can about what to expect. Our brooder
is ready to go and we are very excited!
We still need to build the coop, but we definitely have time as they
will start in the house, then move into a section in our well built/protected
and well ventilated shed. We are already changing some coop ideas
just from reading input on the forum. So very helpful!
I'm looking forward to learning from you all and maybe even sharing
our own experience.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
You really need to get cracking on the coop. The chicks grow super fast and unless you are comfortable with the shed getting quickly taken over by the chickens and their dust you need to start the coop build right now. Good luck with the build.

In my experience, having fast-growing chicks is great motivation for speeding up the building process. In fact, when I "accidentally" ended up with eight chicks last year, coop-building was fast tracked ahead of every other project!

Congratulations on doing research BEFORE you get your chicks (I have to admit to not being very thorough on that crucial first step) and on joining BYC! This is a great group of folks who are more than happy to help you with any challenges and share your successes.

Let us know when those babies arrive, and WELCOME!
