New Chicken Girl

Hello from central Florida!!
We bought 3 Rhode Island reds today. Got them home and in the coop. 2 are doing great. The 3rd hen would only lay down and act sleepy. I noticed she was pasted so I cleaned her vent. She walked around a for a few minutes, got close to one of the other girls and just laid back down and closed her eyes. Not sure if its just distress from the move and new home or if something more serious. Any suggestions on what to look for and what to do?

How old are your chickens? Chicks or hens? The sleepiness is not normal, you could try some electrolytes in their water.

Glad you joined us! If she continues doing this today I think you should start a thread in the E&D forum section, give us much info as possible: is she eating/drinking, what does her droppings look like etc. Here's a short-cut to the section:

In the meantime, keep her warm and keep her isolated from the other 2 hens, just to be on the safe side. Good luck and hope it's nothing serious!
