Hi, I'm Kate, and I'm addicted to chickens! I finally have a small flock of birds. 4 golden laced wyandottes, 2 guinea fowl, 3 baby buff orps and 2 baby americauna. I have loved spending time with them, and watching their personalities emerge. They provide endless entertainment!
We live in a small rural town with only about an acre of land. I let the girls free range when supervised but I'm too nervous to let them run wild all day. I'm anxious for our babies to get big and join the rest of the flock. And I have a feeling I won't be able to help myself from adding more :-)

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Oh yes! Chickens are so addicting! Sounds like you understand chicken math. One chicken plus another chicken equals more!

Enjoy your lovely flock and welcome to ours!

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

I too can't let my birds out to free range due to all the predators that lurk and fly. So I let them out under supervision only. They also make a thing called a peck n play. It is a nylon enclosure that is 3x6 feet in size. You can keep your babies in there safely and move it around the yard too. I have one of these and it allows them to hang out in the yard and be safe at the same time. Most chickens do well in a run if not crowded in. My girls are mainly kept in the run much of the week with a few times being out as I am out and about.

Enjoy your babies and welcome to our flock!

Oh, and here is a link to where you can get one of these enclosures. :-)
