Hey!
My husband and I just bought our first two chickens over the weekend, we are very new to this so we are open to any advice or tips from established chicken parents. Some of the questions we have:
1) We have a chicken coop, how often do we need to clean the coop? In the house portion of their coop, we have a pull out tray to make it easier to clean the bedding and any poop/pee. I have noticed some poop/pee in the run portion of their house, not a lot, just a few spots.
2) How often can we give "treats"? i.e., apples, carrots, celery, etc. We do have chicken feed that they have available to them 24/7, but I have read on some websites, like Community Chicken, that "treats" should be an occasional thing, but then I have also seen people stating that they give their chickens all their scraps.
3) What are some fun things I can put in the coop? Chicken toys, etc. Right now, I have an apple hanging from twine in the run of their coop that they can peck at/play it while also getting a nutritious snack.
4) Is there a list of Do's and Do not's I should be aware of?
Any other advice/tips are appreciated! Thank you in advance!
