My husband and I are the proud owner of 4 Black Star hens and they are absolutely beautiful. This is the first time for my husband and I to have hens, needless to say we are waiting anxiously for our first eggs. We purchased our hens at our local co-op and the owners of the co-op have been the best at helping us with the necessary items we needed to start our little hen farm. I have joined this site in order to learn about raising hens and as a first time mom ...... keep from driving the owners of the co-op crazy with my every little questions LOL.... ( They even gave me there personal cell phone number ..... I think they could tell I was a little nervous about bringing home these 4 tiny babies to raise). All in all we have come to love and be very protective of our new babies. They are about 4 1/2 months old and hopefully we will get our first egg soon.
