I gave up on chicken math long ago. Once upon a time my signature listed each and every one of my birds, but I couldn't keep it current. I don't think my hubby really has counted the chickens I've got out there, since they're the old ones in the coop, the teenagers and the little ones in the grow-up house, plus the two inside MY house....

Let's see... 5 original girls, plus 26 from McMurray, then there were the 10 bantam cochins (kept 5 of those), the 15 packing peanuts (ate those), the 35 Cornish X (ate those), the 7 welsummers and 4 EE's, then a batch of silkies (kept 2 of those), the 14 from the feed store, the 13 bantams from Ideal, the one little cochin that hatched from shipped eggs, plus all the batches that my birds keep hatching and I give away, and a few lost to predators..... I just can't calculate that!

But I'm thinking it's around 60!

I keep warning DH that I need a new coop, but reality hasn't hit him yet. I'm afraid I'm just going to have to let the grow-up house become a regular coop. But then what will I do when there are more teenagers and little ones???
