New chicken mom

It pretty much was love at first sight. We were at a petting zoo and they were selling chicks 2 at a time. These 2 guys were huddled in a corner by themselves and my heart melted. I know it’s not the ideal way to get chickens. I’m just hoping they’re healthy and live forever, because I’m already smitten.
That's adorable! Mind if I give you a brief run down on information?
Chicks need a brooder and heat lamp, as well as chick starter/grower and of course water. They'd also appreciate some bedding, I personally prefer pine flakes, absorbant and they smell nice, as long as it's not cedar. Make sure the brooder is long with a hot and cold side. As for food and water, I would recommend a medicated feed with amprolium to reduce the risk of coccidosis, and make sure they can't drown in the waterer, speaking of which you might have to dip their beak in the water so they know where to drink. They will need some grit if you plan on feeding them anything other than chick feed, you can purchase chick grit or use radish seed or so sized pebbles from the yard. And that's pretty much it, best of luck!

AWWWW! I had a feeling it was something like that! I got my very first chickies as an Easter gift when I was a little girl, and it was love at first sight too! <3 You're in the right place to learn all about your babies and I am sure you'll be an amazing chicken mom in no time!
