1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
My mom and sister had chickens for egg laying. They live in KS (I'm in the San Francisco area). One year I went back for a month and absolutely fell in love with the chickens and their very tasty eggs! So I got a steal on a couple of small coops that I combined to make one larger coop. I picked up my girls yesterday.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 3 pullets about 10.5 weeks old.
(3) What breeds do you have?
We have one Rhode Island Red (her name is Usoboo ooo-sue-boo) 1silver Barred Plymouth Rock(Lady Silver Fluff) , and 1 Ameraucana who is gold/brown (Brianne).
4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Eggs, eggs, and more eggs! Also teaching my 3 year old son how to care for animals.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I love to cook and bake, crochet, read, build stuff, and just try to stay creative.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am married with one child. Sebastian keeps me running. He turned 3 in September. We also have two indoor cats, Lord Humongous and Princess MewMew Wigglebottom. We call them Hugh and Mew for short. I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2004 so I'm a bit slow physically sometimes but eggs!!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found this community during my Google searches for information. And you guys were very helpful and consistently informative. So here I am
