New chicken mom

A lady was out there trying to get it when I heard the commotion. They must live in the neighborhood. Dog and chicken were both under my car. She and her son were able to get him. She kept saying, "he attacked a chicken but the chicken is fine". NO the chicken wasn't!! Grrr!! She will be in own section of the back yard. I'd like to let her free range during the day once she's better, but I'm worried about cats. There are a lot of strays around here and I don't know if they would try to get her. Looking at different coop options now.
If you're allowed to get a rooster, get one (if you want to), make sure that it is gentle to kind animals and vicious to the mean animals (preferably a Jersey Giant). Then not that much animals will even think about messing will them. :highfive: A way to find a roo that has these traits is #3 Buying a roo chick and hoping for the best #2 Buy an adult roo from someone that says that he has those traits or (the best thing 🙂) #1 Adopting a roo that has these traits.

Edit- That laby has problems, sever lacerations are serious, especially when you can see the goey insides.

I hope that lady stays quarantined for a while because if I see her I will not be able to be nice! There was quite a bit of gooey insides showing. I'm honestly surprised (but very glad!) that she lived!

The good thing about joining BYC is that we all love chickens and if she even thinks about hurting your chicken again, just give us a call and we will sick over 100 roos after her. :lau
