I'm moving to the country this weekend! We have a coop and its fenced in for predators. First time for chicks. Any advice on what to buy for supplies?

Welcome to Backyard chickens. If you will be getting day old chicks, you will need something large enough to use as a brooder,* some material to use as litter, a heat lamp with red bulb, chick feed, feeder and water container.

Brooders* are often fashioned from LARGE Rubbermaid totes. Replace the top with a wire cover so the chicks get enough air flow, and to keep pets and others away from them.
