Hi Folks, Mark here, My granddaughter and I picked out 12 pullets at our local feed store back in early March. 4 Rhode Islands, 4 Black sex links and 4 Americauas. Kept them in the house while I was completing my coop, just in time as the little cheepers were wreaking havoc in my man cave, they all started laying around 21,22 weeks, I have only lost two, introduced a Marans rooster about 3 months ago, I am thoroughly enjoying them, watching their behavior is really interesting at times, one of the americauas is a real flyer but after two clippings I've got her grounded, I let them free range as often as possible, now I have more egg customers than I can supply, going to have to increase the flock soon

Glad you're here Mark!

If you haven't yet, please make your chickens a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise.
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it! :D

G’Day from down under Mark :frow Welcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

Personally, I have found the Topic of the Week articles a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
