I came across two black Ameraucana hens both are missing some feathers on their backsides how long does it take to grow back. I think it is because of overcrowding and to many cockerels in one area. But now they are with me so things will be different for them now. But I am curious on how long it will take for their feathers to grow back?

Can you post some photos?

Regrowth depends on how the feathers were lost - if they are plucked out completely, you should see pin feathers coming in shortly. If the feathers were broken or rubbed off like you see alot of times with mating, then the shaft of the feather is usually intact in the skin - these won't come back in until they molt.

Just curious - are you keeping them quarantined for a period of time?

Hope that helps:)

I am keeping separate from my big flock. I have two lavender hens that have been separated for A few weeks I had no choice but to put them together I believe they have been pecked i can still see what I believe to be the shaft in the skin I will get pictures tomorrow. I got them from A very well known Ameraucana breeder. The rooster looks great just the hens are missing rump feathers.
