New Chickie Mom

also is there any real big problems with her can see die from that wound

If you have a gentle rooster and your ratio is correct, then you won't need saddles. I would remove that rooster. Roos should not hurt the hens. It is up to you to protect your hens.

She could get an infection. That is why you need to apply some sort of antibacterial meds. If in a few days it is getting really infected, you might want to start her on antibiotics. If you can give injections, you might want to start her on penicillin shots, alternating left breast right breast for 5 days or so. If you can't do injections, Baytril pills will help with infection. Half of a tab in a raisin in the morning and then one half in the evening for a week.

Good luck with your poultry raising adventures, and I hope you find everything you need to know. Don't forget to take a look at BYC's very useful learning center (If you haven't already)! The learning center as well as the forum should answer your questions! There is always something new to learn! Glad to have you here! See you around with the flock.

2Crows has you covered and she WILL check back on your hen, if you continue to post about her condition. That rooster and any others who abuse hens like that need to swim in the soup pot.

PS it's best if she doesn't go outside until this heals/scabs up some. If you are in a warm climate flies will lay eggs in her wound, the resulting maggots can cause a great deal of grief and even death if they go unnoticed.
