Brand new to this wonderful world of chicks! My flock started by mail, with 10, only 2 didn't survive the trip. So I went down to local Tractor Supply and got 4 more! Go big, or go home, right? Well maybe everyone is staying home in these crazy times. My sister raised a flock in LA and my niece's husband, who is from Italy, has raised them thru his life. We have plenty of space and neighbors who are excited as I am. I feel I have a good support for many questions, but I love searching on here for so many more. My neighbor is helping me build my coop and run, I got wood donated from a friend who redid his deck, I am feeling pretty good about the home I am providing for my flock. They are just under 3 weeks old and they are so funny to watch. I've added a perch to the brooder, which is now a "potato box" from Sam's club. It works awesome. Made a screen cover for it because they love checking out how their wings work! Just yesterday I started to introduce grit so I can give treats. I have a Shepard Husky who is so fascinated with them and I try to have her smell and see them daily to have her get used to and hopefully become protective of them as if they were her chicks, too. Thanks to all who post questions and those that answer. What a great community!
