New Chicks arrive Friday!!

I am wicked excited! Our chicks arrive on Friday and I am really looking forward to it. I know they say to get them familiar with you and handle them but how often should you do this? I dont want to keep taking them out of the toasty brooder too often.

I don't really handle mine at all----unless there is something wrong with them.

I don't handle them for the first 24 hours after arriving. Then I gently inspect them 2-3 x a day. I try to keep them as close to the others and usually pick up several at a time. As they get older I simply move them from one part of the brooder to another with my hand to get them used to being herded. That way when they are mature I don't have a hard time herding them back into the coop.
