New Chicks Blood Tinged Poop

Just brought home 2 new chicks. They are approximately 2 weeks old. Went to take them out of transport box, and noticed some “strings” of blood in a couple of poops. Thoughts?

That looks like coccidiosis. Thats a parasite that young birds are exposed too. All birds have it, but young chicks can get overloaded. You need to start giving Corid immediately. It kills fast.

It looks like coccidia. Pick up some Corid to mix I their water. You might also put a few drops in their beaks to start them off.

Do you have anyone who could pick some up for you sooner? When I was raising Cornish last year, I had to do the same thing, didn't start treatment until the day after I saw blood in the poop. I ended up loosing the infected bird. She was completely fine the day before, and dying the next.

Chicks can turn on a dime and look OK one minute and be dead the next. The sooner you can get them treated the better.

I just messaged a local friend and she thinks she may have some. If so, I'll get it this evening.

Was able to get my hands on some Corid. It expired in January,but I figure it’s better than nothing until I can get some new stuff tomorrow.
