New Chicks on mulch?

I got home today and found my broody hen was hatching out very successfully. She's in a 3x3x4 hutch confined. The floor is Hardwood mulch. I saw a post the other day about chicks ingesting wood and dieing. Should I take it all out to the bare wood in the morning or leave it? They have start and grow and water and momma hen to teach them, what do you think?

If its bigger mulch then i would not be worried since they cannot swallow it. just clear an area with NO mulch and lay papertowles down for their food and water so they get the difference between the two.
