We have a Bantam hen setting on some eggs in a quite hard to get to place, so we're going to let her finish hatching the babes out, Then we're having a Chick catching party, so we can coop them up...We've got too many predators around that will snatch those chicks right up just like they did the other ducklings we had around. Anybody local want a couple let me know they are black bantam hens, and roosters, I can get some photos this week. Their little flock mainly stays to themselves and are mainly used as a pest solution. More chickens less nasty insect critters.

You know I will post pics of us catching up these babes, and of the babes themselves :)

I have 2 broody hens sitting. I have 2 newly hatched chicks. I did have 2 that did not survive their hatching :( 1 egg was not fertile. I am waiting on 3 more eggs to hatch & 2 ducks eggs...

Congrat's on your new chicks

The pic where you ger a really good look at how terrible my manicure is, the feathers seem longer than the rest IDK
I think this is a small as we want to go, they were wanting some Seramas, I think we'd loose the chicks in the brooder box...LOL

I lost both chicks, not clue why or what happened. I brought them in to be safe. I had a chicken peck an egg that was due to hatch today, I brought the chick inside to save it. she dies this morn. Lived 5 days. she clearly had issues with her legs. It's sad I haven't hatched many before but never had this kind of loss. :( I have 1 more egg due to hatch today ( if it's fertile ) hoping this one survives.
Nice to see everyone's chicks

These are the 2 that hatched & I lost

no more eggs
something got them last night
went over this morning the hen was on an empty nest
maybe a snake, no signs of major nest disturbance
...4 bantam eggs just right for a snakey
midnight snack.

This is a couple photos that represent the mom and one of the possible dad at the farm

Mom

Mom is also setting in the above shot
her feather are really brilliant in the sunlight, blue sheen off the black feathers.

Possible Dads for the above chicks (I know they could be mixed way back and crazy genes could be expressing)
Dad#1

Dad#2 looks like #1 except he is larger
and has some reddish feathering around his neck, not a lot of reddish
just enough to make him different.
everything else is like the above photo just a different neck and size.

There are NO WHITE GREY or silver on any of the parent chickens :)
Thanks for looking and attempting to help us.
