New Chicks

Vasaline helps a little, but it also means being out in 0 degree weather trying to catch chickens to apply it too... We found it to be a pain

Well my chickens are about 9 months old. I love barred rocks. I have one. To me frizzles look like they are all messed up. And I have an Aracuna. I don't know how to spell it.

Since your older birds are 9 months old, and will therefore be closer to a year by the time chicks are ready to be integrated, I'd highly suggest getting at least two chicks, three even. It makes integration so much easier if there are a few. You don't want to brood a lone chick all by itself either. When there is only one new bird it can be brutally hard. The older ones just fixate on that single new bird. I have gotten to the point where I will no longer attempt to integrate just one new bird, it's just to much headache for me and to hard on the newbie.
