New cockerel with excessive saliva and yellow on tongue

Thank you!
I will update. I looked though past threads also and didn't find any that were updated with how the chicken managed. There was one that was updated but the chicken had lost most of his tongue and had to me syringe fed. I don't have the time to syringe or tube feed long term. I hope it doesn't come to that.
He didn't want to eat this morning but I imagine his tongue is sore. He didn't have any signs of dehydration so Im going to continue my wait and see approach for now.

I would keep him hydrated via syringe. chickens need lots of water. baby food for him! it is smoothe and will feel better to eat.

Good point! I will syringe him some water when I get home from work if the water level in his waterer hasn't gone down any or very much. Thank you!

If I'm going to be syringe feeding him then I will need to be able to get all his daily requirements in two feedings per day and in under a half a hour. I'm going to research recipes but if anyone has any thoughts or experiences I would appreciate it.

Yay! I got home and heard my cockerel crowing for the first time! That has got to mean he's doing better, right?
I made him a warm mash of grower pellets and he ate some! It took effort and he did drop some but I was happy to see him get some down. It seems he drank also why I was gone!
