New coop ... Added CHICKENS! Conversion PICS on pgs 2, 4, 5, 7 & 9

Thats a pretty nice chicken coop. I have an old "morgan" building in the back that might make a good conversion. Probably not that nice though.

Thanks guys!

Shellie - this one will be used for most of my araucana. The bigger coops will be used for the lavender projects, as those birds are huge and will need the bigger space.

Jody, Have you ever had problems with predators busting threw the chicken wire? I had a heck of a time. I use horse fencing and chicken wire now. So many dogs and wild animals live around use here. We are pretty much in the middle of the country.

And here I thought my 12x20' was big...

Nothing like a brand new coop to make you happy, eh? Have you thought about running the cup waterers along the inside of the coops with PVC pipe? How cold does it get there? Hubby put one together in our coop, and it's gravity fed from a 5 gallon bucket. It's great, because I only have to fill the one bucket... not a bunch of individual waterers! And we wrapped it with heat-cables to keep it from freezing in the winter...

so far so good!!

Just beautiful, though... wish you guys all the best on your lav project!!

We had some predator (raccoon and weasel) problems a few years ago, but since Charlie is a good trapper we don't have too many around anymore. We are always here during the day to watch for stray dogs and also close up all coops every night. We will be adding top flight netting to the run as well to keep hawks out and the chickens in.

Thanks Steff and Tori! I am so excited about this new coop, but am a little concerned with more to take care of over winter. We have never tried the water cups and put all of our waterers on heaters for winter with much success. I am hoping that chickens will only be in this for a year or 2 at most, then I can get back to my usual pens and hopefully not add more..lol Of course I already have some thoughts on a couple new breeding projects.

Hey Jody! If you dont mind me asking- How much have you guys spent on this so far? I want one so bad. Right now we are converting a 10x30 tin shed into a chicken house and I love the idea of separating it into seperate pens. I will talk to my dad and see if we can copy your idea into ours lol
Thanks for the nice pics.
