Here's the clip from page 4:
The actual pen sizes are as follows (now that we have the walls in: 3 of them are 5 1/3 foot by 9 ft. The smaller one is 5 1/3 ft X 8 ft. We kept a walkway in the front of all of the pens, so we can enter each one individually and walk through with a wheelbarrow for cleaning. The extra space at the garage door will be used to store supplies (bedding, etc). I think this setup will be nice because we can open the front doors and the garage door on nice days for ventilation as well.

We figured the space for each can hold about 5-6 birds per pen, based on about 8 sq ft per bird. Since araucana are a smaller large fowl breed, this should work out nice.

The ones in there now are just babies and are just sorted by color for now. They will be culled more as they grow.

I know what you mean Chicabee! They were investigating all day and some were really scared and hiding behind the nests. I am hoping they adjust well. Some just met for the first time today, so it will be quite a change for them.

Thanks Cyn - I really love this extra space for my babies!

Thanks Shellie and Steff! We still have more birds to move around but we are definitely making progress. We're going to install lighting in it for during the day in winter, since we won't want to open the doors due to the cold. And then we'll need to plan for our water heaters.

I am planning this as well, but on a much larger scale. We had intended on this year doing a Morton building, but, hubbys hours went down. So it will be a few years but still a doable idea.
Ours is going to be a 30x50 morton, half of it will be a garage though, and the other half for the birds to be housed in winter. In the summer, the breeders will go back to their other building, which has outdoor areas to run in and I can use this new one as a place to raise the babies. which means it will be 25x30 for the two car garage and the other half will be set up like so.
This is my intention for the bird half. The garage will be somewhat heated to just above freezing by propane.
