i think the OP means that when they rake, the poop doesn't get raked out, it just "disappears" under the sand somewhere.

i personally don't think this is a problem. like another poster said, it goes "somewhere" probably to decompose near the bottom. i think since sand stays so dry, smell wouldn't be an issue but i'm not sure.

Your question about the sand? I'd suggest to try using a kitty litter scooper. if you're just wanting to scoop that poop real quick.

I heard of people that just let the poop breakdown into the sand and had no issues as long as everything stays somewhat dry.
