New build. Will finish up on Friday just in time to receive our 6 adult hens. Gotta cut doors and windows in, put hail screen up and we’re good to go. Can’t wait to start our new chicken adventure. Lots to learn.
Pen is 20’x8’x8’tall, coop is 4’x6’x5’ tall. 5 nesting boxes. Lots of ventilation. Automatic door opener, all-inclusive and free drinks. No horny boys lurking around.
The first dozen eggs will cost $800. The dozens in the future will be pennie’s on the dollar. 😄😎✌️

Wow, that's really really RED! 😲 😄

So, is your ventilation up in the rafters?
How cool that you already had a barn structure to use!
Ours is somewhat similar in that we converted our horse stall / shed combo into coops.
Are the hens going to be prevented from going in that underneath area? Or will you be able to reach in there with a tool? Because they're probably going to lay in there sometimes just for the fun of it. We have plenty of nestboxes but one always flies up on the porch to lay and one does her business in a garden pot. Because chickens... 🐔

It is Red! It should fade a bit over time in the sun as it faces South. Yes, Jen’s can get underneath coop. Does you chickens tear up flowers and garden ?

Oh yeah, they totally dig up the garden. Larger plants tend to fare just fine as long as we check every now and then their roots aren't being exposed.
Our Pineapple, Bougainvillea, Passion vine, and Plumeria do all right.
Our veggie bed needs protection with fencing to keep them out, and I've lost track of the smaller plants lost to digging for bugs / colder dirt.

We're in Florida so a similar heat profile to you there in Texas. We used open hardware mesh sides on our coops to keep the air moving.
Your open top under rafters should work well for letting the heat out IF it also has sufficient air intake down low. Did you design in anything like that? If not, I would pop in a large hardware cloth window facing the shade. Intake of cooler lower air will be the limiting factor and overheating is a big risk in these hot climates.
