I am planning a new 10x12 coop and am thinking of putting it on 1' posts so critters don't camp out underneath. Would it be sufficient to put the posts on those cement deck bases instead of cementing them into the ground? I have heard that just putting the deck bases on gravel is a sufficient post foundation, but I am not sure.

I am definitely no contractor but my coop is sitting in those cement bases and it is working fine. I think we put one in each corner and two in the middle spaced out for support.

If you have really solid ground, sure, you can do that. You didn't see it when you were here, but the 12' coop addition, in the back, has 4x4 posts sitting in those cement block post holders. They work very well.
