Put in plenty of straw for them, they'll snuggle in it and with each other and keep warm enough. Feeding them some corn also helps keep them warm. Make sure they can get out of the weather and stay draft free when they want to and they should be fine.

get straw, not hay. hay is animal food, straw is bedding. hay is more expensive as well.

Hi there your coop looks great!

It looks like you are in a suburb like I am..all the homes are packed together.

My only comment would be to make sure you check the local ordinances for where a chicken coop can be..in Los Angeles the coop has to be at least 25 feet from the primary residence and 35 feet from any neighbor dwellings.

If you have no restrictions like that than go for it! I would have loved to use a side yard for that purpose too.

Straw can harbor mites, and lice sometimes so another option to keeping them warm is pine shavings.
