New coop!!

The bottom nesting boxes are about 12" off the ground and the top row is about 30" off the ground. When they first started to lay as pullets I would find eggs off and on the floor. Now that they are older pretty much always in the nesting boxes. Once in awhile I'll find some on the poop board. I think that happens sometimes as they'll lay while sitting on the roost at night. When I have a day where it looks like they all layed that day usually the very next day I'll have the least amount of eggs. For example if I get 8 eggs one day from 10 hens the next day I am likely to only get maybe 4 followed by several days of 5-6 per day in a row. All has to do with the timing but certainly other things effect laying also. Just the stress of move can throw them off there game some.

Doesn't look like you have a perch in front of upper nests?
Do they use the uppers?
Yes there is a perch, I had used a Birch log/branch as a perch at first

Now I changed it over to a 2x3 perch
But yes they lay in all the boxes I would say equally
Current setup with 2x3 perch

They have even used the 5gallon bucket a couple times, I just think that the bucket cover is really cool looking

I just noticed something in this picture I have the axe to cull the bird's hanging directly over the nesting boxes:eek:. Is that just wrong or what??? :gig

Not sure what this means...would need to see what it looks like now.

Not all birds lay every day....but from 14 to 2 might indicate that they are not comfortable with the nests and if free range they may have found a place they like better..... give it a few days, especially if you changed something on the nests....they don't like change.

if change is for better mine don't mind.
