Whistling birds in the airless sky.
Column
What an oasis! Whistling birds in the airless sky.

I understand from the talk show experts that all th flying junk has to go back to the air soon. Otherwise we will go bankrupt. But isn't this the time to go into healthy bankruptcy indeed? The chance to rigorously demolish half of our airplane fleet? As an example for the rest of the world. That we will close 50% of that megalomaniacal Schiphol? Isn't that better for everyone? At least for the future of our children and grandchildren. Don't we want to leave them with a poisonous desert?

In any case, God and Allah do not want that. That is why they sent this relentless virus, which mainly deals with the greedy, like you and me. The children will remain out of reach for the time being. In many ways, the gods have warned us of a terrible catastrophe in recent decades. Via gigantic holes in the ozone layer, soft ice cream in the Arctic, forest fires in Australia, plastic soup in the oceans, nitrogen-addicts to an autistic Swedish adolescent. But nothing helped. Our political and industrial leaders shouted that nothing was wrong. We rushed on. Buy, grow and buy and grow more. And then the creators recently decided in their semiannual gods consultation to plague a relentless virus against it. Worldwide and ... not a sweet thing. But one that really clears up and is so contagious that everyone has to stay at home. Otherwise you just die. On your stomach. Like a seal on dry land.

The nice thing is that the lockdown makes it quite pleasant in our country. Instead of flying desperately and aimlessly standing in traffic jams, people start talking, puzzling, making love, educating attentively and being genuinely concerned about their elderly neighbors and other vulnerable sweethearts. Or they come to the healthy conclusion that they really have to separate. I'm counting on a relentless divorce tsunami this fall. Where should those new singles live? A lot of homes for the elderly have become vacant. So that will be fine.

Freely translated part of a column in NRC from Youp van t Hek, who was in hospital with Corona.

Here in Ireland scientists are beginning to think that the bcg vaccine ( for TB ) which is given to all children of School going age, seems to give some protection to people. Tests are ongoing at the moment. Also it was discovered in laboratory setting, that Ivomec injection for cattle kills coronavirus, so we live in hope.

Worldwide there are 90 researches Going on for Covid medicines. There is a lot hopeful research. But all in experiment.

In the Netherlands they give a lot of Corona patient’s medicines against malaria now (experimental). It seems to help a bit, but not good.

In Nijmegen hospital in the Netherlands they found that the cause of early long infection has similar symptoms as another disease that can be treated with an existing medicine. They gave a small group of Corona patient's this medicine and they responded well. Now they try this medicine on a larger group.

Another good result they have on a small group of Corona patient's who got a serum/blood from blood of ex-patients.

Possible research in more than 40 countries into the relationship between air pollution and corona.

Does the coronavirus strike harder in areas that have to deal with a lot of air pollution? A large network of statisticians from more than forty countries - is considering launching an international investigation into the answer to that question in the near future. Because area’s with much air pollution seem to have more serious patients as other area’s.

Makes sense. It's a respiratory issue and if the lungs are already polluted...

According to a US site, there would appear to be 440 COVID related trials going on. Though I'm betting some are for other versions of coronavirus.
This lists studies across the globe-

Guess what was in the news in Eurooe today. :
In the US all chicks are sold out because many people are buying them now bc of Covid.

Numbers are getting better
In my country there still is a shortage of hospital beds /care because a lot of the boards and ICU beds are taken by corona patients. The numbers are decreasing slowly. Hospital care like cancer therapy and operations are being organised again for all urgent treatment. Within a couple of weeks they want to schedule all the people who need treatment for other diseases than Covid.
