Howdy all,
Looking to build onsite & build for Dallas (100F degree days) summers and almost every predator* except for bears. Co-oping with a neighbor family and dear son is footing the bill. (He lives across the street with his wife & two littles.)
The site is 1/4 very steep hill, the semi-level area where the coop will be built, dropping to thicket & woods with a heavily trafficked electric train track embankment with two tracks (4 rails) and down more woods, a green space, and a large creek.
Currently, the yard is not fenced & is a wildlife pathway to the creek. Your suggestions on where to look or predator-proof building tips will be appreciated.
Dear farmer/soldier husband (now 84, drafted during the Cuban Missile Crisis) had two hen houses with 200 hens in each in Leroy, MN growing up. He is 14 months into a 32-month Cancer treatment plan. The chicks & hens should be a lift for all of us.
The backyard faces NE & front of the home faces SW, so not the hottest site ... and the hill hopefully will provide a slightly cooler microclimate.
