Hello all!
I am considering buying several adult ducks. They will have three acres of land and a one acre pond to free-range during the day, and a house built inside of a barn to sleep in at night.
My questions are:
1. How much food can I expect to give them during the active foraging season vs. the winter months?
2. How long should I keep them penned before turning them loose to forage and swim?
3. How deep should the straw bedding (over a wooded floor) be? I don't want to have hidden eggs!

Thanks!

For 1. I give my ducks 2-3 cups of feed it depends how many you got. 2.It depends on the ducks make sure they are tame enough where you can almost always pick them up pretty easy.3.I use 1 1/2 inches most of the time make sure they can make a nice nest and good luck if you get them I would.

Hi Butterflyhigh and

.

With a pond that large you should make sure there are no snapping turtles in it. They will cause great harm and even death to your ducks.

Good luck!
