I actually feed mash as I have a wild bird problem so the only way to keep the wild birds out was submerge the feed in water but you have to really watch for that sweet smell and change it out. I place just enough for one feeding. Crumble for this method

I was wondering if i should keep the ducklings' heat lamp on at night or not to because I've read it can start a fire. I've also read that they could get cold. right now I'm just staying up with them because I'm too afraid to turn it off and they get cold or keep it on and I burn the house down.what should I do? I just got them from tractor supply which I know isn't I deal but Im just worried i wont give them the proper care. what should I do?

Where did you get your heat lamp? you can buy a 175 watt which to me is better than the 250. As long as you have the heat lamp supported really well there shouldn't be a problem it's when they fall from where they are attached you have problems with fire. Plus you don't want it down close to the ducklings or bedding. At 1 week they need temps around 85 then you adjust the temp so it falls 5* each week thereafter. make sure to give them a warm end and a cool end in their brooder.
