Hi all, I am new on this forum. And I know I will appreciate all the help and wisdom!
I have about 20 ducks, which also includes 2 lovely geese. We have been raising ducks for about 2 years. We have muscovy and American Pekin and Khaki Campbells.
Just yesterday we moved there entire pen to a different location on our property (winter wetness caused problems at that location) ..... maybe 100 metres from where it had been.
Now, of course, they are all very confused and we can't get them into the pen for the life of us. Usually they all just march to the pen when it gets dark and they know that feed time is coming.
Last night we ended up having to leave them out because they simply would not go in. We coaxed and bribed and chased and begged.... not a chance.
I worried about them all night because of racoons and owls etc etc. They are indeed fine this morning.....
HELP! Any tricks? Secret duck language that I don't know about?? I even put in some of the old bedding because I thought the scent would help .....

They def don't like change at all but I have found mine do herd well if I walk behind them slowly and either use my arms open or long bamboo poles to help guide them. Once inside then offer treats for doing such a great job.
It may take a few days to a week but once they get what you want they should comply. If you have help in herding just remember walking slowly is the key to herding.

You def don't want to leave them out to many nights eventually the inevitable is going to happen.

Try food, also if at all possible get a few people together and herd them in. You may have to leave them locked in for a few days for them to learn this is a safe, "Happy" place, give treats and things that will encourage this area to be considered a home.

Birds can be stubborn no doubt, good luck!
