New Duck, Won't Stop Quacking

So I also have neighbors, but I've talked to them, and they don't mind the ducks. Perhaps just asking your neighbors if they kind the sound? They don't quack at night, so he sure to tell them that as well.

I know exactly what you're going through.... And I feel for you!!!

I have 3 female Anconas. 1 is a year old - very very quiet - never makes a sound. The other 2, Rosy and Posy, are 15 weeks old. Posy is quiet like my 1 yr old. But Rosy, oh sweet Rosy, is the loudest thing I've ever heard. For a few weeks she would let out this quack that sounded like an old man laughing - and she would do it a LOT. The last few days she's gotten quieter - she still does it a few times a day but not like before. I'm hoping she's growing out of it.

I would guess your girl is just getting used to her surroundings and will quiet down soon. Or not - sorry! ;)

Our neighborhood is generally very quiet, the only time people are even driving is just to and from work, most of the kids around here are teens or older, so having that duck just quacking non stop for a few hours was very loud! We ended up taking her back to where we got her (and she was VERY happy to be back with the other ducks she knew <3) but we made a sort of tentative plan, since our duck Henry is a female and not acting lonely, we're going to see if we can wait until next spring or at least until fair is over and get muscovys since I've heard they're quieter. Our hope is to have Henry go broody and we can slip some eggs or ducklings under her but if not I guess I'll be having some ducklings in my room again! :D Thank you guys for all of the replies and I'm sorry it didn't end up working out
