New duckling not eating-

Great to hear there has been some improvement. I often sprinlke crumbles into the water for the first few days- to ensure that if they cant eat the dry ones- at least they may get a little nutrition from dabbling in the water. After a few days- they manage to be dampening the food by themselves enough to ensure their is always some softer soggy bits to be found.

Yay! To encourage her to start eating crumbles, you might try sprinkling some in the waterer when she's up and drinking - she'll be curious and dabble it up from the bottom.

I didn't even see that duckyfromoz had already said the exact same thing! Well, I agree!

This morning she eating again, but looks worse. Now she is walking backwards and there is what looks like a little of her insides coming out where she should be pooping.

She is barely even lifting her head now and mostly just lays there. I hate suffering. I'd rather have her die and go to ducky heaven then be miserable.

Is there anything else I can do to make her more comfortable?

I don't know what to tell you; it sounds like you've done everything right. Sometimes there's just nothing we can do.

Our little duckling has gone to a better place now. We will miss her, but I'm sure she is happier in Heaven. I really feel like we did the best we could. We held her the hour before she passed and she seemed content to be in our arms.

Thank you for all the support and advice. It was very helpful and I think made her more comfortable.

Thank you again.

Noooooooo...I hate when things like this happen!

Now I gotta go to bed...have to check on mine here now to get rid of sad ducky thoughts. Sorry to hear that happened!

Thank you. I did just get her to eat a couple bites of the yogurt mixture off of my hand. She didn't eat much, but at least it was something, and then she drank. She wouldn't eat from the lid I put it in, only from me. Annarie did you have to hand feed your mallard? And how long did it take before he was eating crumbles? I hope she eats on her own soon.

Everyone else seems to kind of run her over. Do you think I should separate her?

I'll have to try watering down an egg yolk later, but for now I think I'll stick with the yogurt. I even watered the yogurt down a bit before she really wanted it, so she probably is not ready for the yolk yet.
I have heard/read ducks/ducklings should NEVER have yogurt. They are unable to digest.
