New Duckling Owner...

She didn't make it Finny. I'm going to bury her and her sister now. After I'm going to call the hatchery and just have them refund the money for the 2 to my sister.

The 2 crested ducklings seem to be doing ok. They're very active and are drinking and eating.
So sorry, it's heartbreaking to hear of loss.

So sorry to hear about the little one:( How sad. I am still wondering why the farm you orderd from shipped the ducklings so that it would take up to 4 days? Especially this time of year. The usual shipping of live poultry should take no more than two days. Again, I am sorry for your losses, and I hope the two crested ones continue to do well. We would love to see some pics of them when you have the time.

Thanks Finny. I called McMurray and they're refunding my Sister for the 2 Pekins. They offered to send replacements but when I asked if they would overnight them or at least do express with a guarantee of arrival in 2 days they said no. I did offer to pay additional shipping costs for overnighting or express 2 day.

Good for you for making that offer! We all want what is best for our babies:) If the farm still says no, are you just going to get a refund?

OK, on a happier note. Here are my 2 that are doing well so far. They're both drinking often and it looks like they're trying to eat, and pooping a lot. I made a mash with chick starter, egg yolk, and their warm electrolyte/vitamin water. I'm only giving them about a teaspoon at a time. I am trying to be hands off and let them recover from their journey. The brooder temp is fluctuating between 86-90 degrees, which they seem happy with. What's weird is when they sleep the don't lay down, they just stand side by side and doze. They don't have names yet, I don't know if they're boys or girls and I can't come up with any unisex names.

How precious, so happy to see them alive and well. Temps are good make sure to put the lamp where they can get out from under it if they get too warm.
