New Duckling's and Geese on their way!!!

My justification begins with my 7 chickens pooping and having alot of flies in the yards, thats where the Runner's come in, they are quick and love foraging. the geese are for lawn maintenance and weed control (and because I want them!!!!!). all of the ducks will be for eggs, the pekins will serve a dual purpose and hopefully hatch out youngin's who I can raise at the families house for processing. and I would love to start selling fertile eggs on craigslist and possibly even hatchlings someday. I live in San Diego and a lot of people seem to like the idea of backyard chickens and ducks.

according to the website they are at the airport by monday evening, since I only live an hour flight away I just assume I will see them tomorrow. I'm not sure how long they will take to get to Idaho! and I do hope they get my order correct as well, however they seem to get great reviews and good customer service so i'm sure your shipment isn't the norm, but truthfully I wont know until tomorrow. I brooded a pair of Pilgrim geese from Metzer's with ducks and those geese were convinced the ducks were their children--- it was kind of funny.

Haha, thats awesome! i only hope mine will take the same attitude. I got them so my Ducks will have another barrier of protection, I think 3 toulouse geese can handle our weak inferior city predators. I have never even seen one (coon or possum) since i"ve had the flock of chickens, but I know its just a matter of time before they TRY and show up!

Did you get your order? Once again mine was postponed due to a bad hatch. This is the third mix up and this time I am just going to cancel the order.

You will be very happy with your Metzer order. I ordered 4 geese, 2 drake ducks and 4 female ducks. They shipped me an extra female duck. According to their website, they always send 1 extra. Mine shipped 4/5 and arrived in maryland 4/7/2010.

Well they arrived to the Post Office in time for them to close at 2:30, they called me at 2:18!!!! So now I'm stuck knowing my little ones are without food, water and heat for another night. I guess it's a good thing I added the Grow Gel to the order, but I am still wishing they were at home right now. So no pics today everyone, I will have them up tomorrow night for sure!

BTW i'm sorry to hear about your mix up on the order, AGAIN. that must not be fun at all-

Well I am glad your babies came and I am so sorry that you have to wait until tomorrow. Your PO closes early! That was very wise to get the grow gel.

I am learning to call the po first thing in the morning and if the birds aren't there to call again in the afternoon because mine get afternoon deliveries. I hope you post pics, I would love to see them.

yeah, I just went in last week to tell them, I should have planned on being there right before they closed, but oh well. I'm still excited that they are almost here!
