New Ducklings - Help, please!

Do you use the DuMor Finisher from Tractor Supply? That is what my ducks are on and it works perfect for them. We put them on it about 3 weeks old and they have done wonderful on it and will stay on it until they start laying. Try the Save-A-chick that they sell also, it worked wonders for perking up my babies and had what they needed without having to add all kinds of different things to their feed. The poop is totally normal thing. If you look at my front yard you would know that they all do it... even as adults when they have a lot of water

some just do it more than other for some reason.

About how old should I introduce the oyster shells?
Since I'm taking they don't need to be on the laying feed, just the finisher with shells.

And thanks for the tips!

I love all the info!

I haven't given shells yet. I'm waiting until a set of chickens I have start laying because my ducks are two weeks younger. They start to lay around 20 weeks just like chickens from what I have read.

With my runners I started a half cup of oyster shell free choice a week when they began displaying breeding behavior for the first time. And, sure enough, about four weeks later someone laid her first egg. Storey's Guide recommends starting the oyster shell about a month before they start laying.

Glad everyone is saying the poo is normal! And what %s would you recommend staying between in feed at this point?

Ours is either 20%, 21% or 24%........heck I cannot remember and too lazy to go outside and look

Any suggestions on the runny nose, anyone? Or should I try to fix his beak first?
I just don't want it to progress into something more serious... if I can go ahead and run them through a course.

I gave my little loves the save-a-chick vitamin water last night - they love it! They were literally waiting on more this morning!

Noses were dry this morning and the little guy with the banged up beak got his second glob of polysporin this morning too! It's not healing quite yet, but it's helping. It looks like it's getting a good scab on it now

The hardest part with him is watching that he isn't playing in the watering dish

Sometimes all they need is a little booster and then you will be wishing that they would slow down for just a second so that you can catch your breath, lol. Keep us posted because I love hearing stories about how great saved babies are doing
