new ducklings

quick questions..
what kind of lamp or bulb do i need for my 2 new ducklings that are under a week old?
what bedding is best while they are indoors?straw?

What kind of ducklings?

I raise Pekins, which need less heat than the others (no idea why, they're just happier this way). I use a standard 100 W bulb.

Question #2 - Puppy pads. Nothing else would have worked. It was simply the BEST thing to use. I used about 45 until I kicked them outside. Don't worry you won't need them too long. But it is the easiest to clean up. It's not cheaper. But it is easier!!! Ducks are extraordinarily messy. Like imagine the messiest mess you can think of. Then add poo to it and you get the picture. Puppy pads will save your sanity. Good luck!

I used shavings but mine are muscovy I found puppy pads caught the claws- bad combo there. I had a big red bulb for mine i think it was a 250 watt but depending on your temps a 100 maybe ok.. just watch your birds, you'll know... if they spend to much time under the lamp they are cold.

What kind of babies? and we need pictures!
