New Ducks.........new pics in the big yard

I have 12 total, so am waiting for them to get all feathered out before decided who to keep. I will most likely keep all the Welsh Harlequin.....not sure which colors of runners I prefer. Guess we'll find out!

I moved the quackers into the big growout pen......pulled all the young pullets out of the pen and stuck them in the old duck pen. The big growout pen is now the Duck and Rooster pen. They are still sleeping in the dog crate in there. They have lots of rooster friends there.......their little chick friend moved with them (it is a rooster also) and even decided to sleep in the dog crate with them instead of in the chicken coop with the roosters.

Too cute! My 13 week old Metzer duckies just visited our pond for the first time today.

The quackers got booted out into the big yard yesterday. They are still learning the ropes....but did enjoy poking around in the grass and resting in the clover out back. Walmart was sold out of kiddie pools yesterday so I am going to a different one today....they currently have a small black stock tank out there but havne't really figured it out yet.

Wow, Janelle! Your Runners are much nicer than mine but the place you got yours is probably a lot better for duck quality. Now I wish I had traded you some ducks for chickens! Like I need more, right?

They are gorgeous! One of these days I'm going to talk my hubby into some runner ducks. Especially now that one of my girls' chickens is a rooster and we need to rehome him (too noisy for our neighborhood, woke me up at 5:45 crowing!!!!). She wants to replace it with a runner duck. I think it's going to need at least one friend. ;-)

Amy, I have 12 ducks total. 4 Welsh harlequin (3 girls, 1 boy) and 8 runner girls (2 black, 2 choc, 2 blue, 2 fawn/white). I do not expect to keep them all......maybe once the weather starts cooling off, I can bring a few girls on our construction day LOL. I'll trade you for mottled girls! Ha!

Javajanie, hate to say it but my ducks are waaaaaaaaaaay louder than my roosters. The roosters crow here and there but these ducks just quack up a storm.

NellaBean, you have a beautiful yard! I would have to water hours a day to get that much green this time of year! Im thankful for my big shade trees though, we are going up to Holderreads in Aug/Sept to get some adult ducks for my son. I love their quality!

You got a deal, Janelle!

I will make sure to keep hatching some nice Mottled girls for you. I am about to put those Mottleds back with the roo anyway and by fall you may want more eggs for your 'bator, too. I can see us having a ton of Mottled bantam Cochins in our yards!
I love Runners! But you saw mine, they are just not very upright at all. Yours are much better quality.

Have the ducks gotten more friendly since they got to use the pool?
I gotta get more frozen peas, they don't like the canned ones. I was putting some frozen peas in with the brooder chicks as cold packs and then at the end of the day giving most to the ducks and they thought that was a neat deal.
