Hi all
We've had chickens for a while and this weekend we got 3 indian runner ducks to join the family. I think they are about 15 weeks old. What I'm surprised about is how absolutely terrified they are of us, especially compared to how chickens are when we first bring them home. The ducks didn't eat much the first evening (poultry growers pellet and peas in water) and today I saw them eat a bit but not a huge amount although they did drink water. I feel bad going anywhere near them, the poor things. How long will it take for them to settle? With chickens I have seen them usually settle in about a week but given how stressed the ducks appear at this time, I can't imagine they ever will!!

Give it more time, and they should adjust eventually. Birds don't like change so that's why they're acting like this.
Make sure their environment is as calm and peaceful as it can be.
Try treating them with meat and eggs too, and you could also add electrolytes to their water once or twice a week.
Just be patient and they should adjust.
