New England Bantam Club Spring Show May 1, 2011 ! (Massachusetts)

Hi, I can't figure out how to do my own post. It seems to only let me reply to a post so I am going to start here. I am looking for someone in MA near Littleton that can tell me and show me more about guinea fowl. My husband and I are considering getting some to help with the ticks but we don't know anything about them. We want to have all of the information about them that we can before making a decision to get them.

Thank you,
Christal

Goodluck in your search, I know they can be very noisy.

I can tell you that they are extremely loud and also very flighty and nervouse. They do well free ranging and definitely eat lots of ticks, however, if you have neighbors, you may want to think about it! If you go to a swap it is the best chance to actually hear them in action. They make great "alarms".

cldionne -- we have speckled sussex bantams that patrol our property for ticks and such . They do a fab. job and stick around - if you have a rooster he'll crow but other then that you really don't know they are there . ( not as noisey as guineas and do a great job patroling for bugs ) we tried guineas but unless you cage them the tend to keep going .

My daughter will be showing at this show! This will only her second show. She won BB & CFLEG at the Little Rhody Show this past weekend.

Is anyone interested in four month old silkies? I have two whites (pretty sure one is a boy, not sure on the other), a gray hatchery quality boy with a super personality, and one that I believe to be blue. I will have to double check, but I'm pretty positive that all of the chicks (besides the gray) have five toes on each foot and they have REALLY nice foot feathering. Send me a PM if interested and I will send you pictures. They will be T-P and AI tested next week. All but the gray were hatched by me from my PQ silkies. They are $5 each.
